“Are you going to sell my
name and e-mail address to people so I get a bunch of spam
e-mail?”
No, we, at The Rental Spot, will never knowingly give or sell
names, personal data or e-mail addresses to any third parties for the
purposes of creating mailing lists for
solicitations.
However, please be aware that should you use one of the links in
The Rental Spot to go to another company’s webpage, you should read the
Privacy policy of that company before deciding to use that company’s
site. The Rental Spot is not
responsible for the activities of other
companies.
2) “What information are you
collecting from me and what do you use it
for?”
The Rental Spot collects some personal data such as name, address,
phone number and e-mail address from those placing ads so that you “Spot”
can contact these people if you need to – say to send them an e-mail
telling them someone would like to see their property, or is interested in
their item for rent.
“Oh yah! I’ve got to be able to deliver
important mail or messages like
that!”
Sometimes, we, at The Rental Spot, may have a question about an
advertiser’s ad OR an advertiser may need help placing an ad or have a
question for us. We need their name, address and phone number so we can
contact them to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible for
them.
For potential
renters who are viewing the ads, we need some basic information, such as
e-mail addresses and names so we can forward any requests you have
regarding viewing a property or item to the person listing that property
or item.
“That makes
sense!”
We also keep
copies of the basic transaction and payment details for those placing ads,
in case people have any questions.
“Well, good. I wouldn’t want to contact you to
ask a question and you didn’t know what I was talking
about.”
We also use
this information to keep track of when ads are about to expire, so we can
notify the advertiser about renewals.

3) “Is there anything else you
track?”
We keep track of the number of views for each ad. Also, we may monitor the traffic
on the site (in aggregate numbers only) to determine which cities or areas
of the site attract the most interest. This will enable us to make
upgrades to the site that will continually make the site better for those
using it.
3) “Do you put cookies on my
computer? I only like cookies sometimes.”
(Actually, I prefer dog
biscuits—ha! ha!)
No, our site never puts cookies on your computer. We use a log-in and password
system to identify return users to the site.
“Great! No
cookies!”

“So, do you
share my information with anyone?”
Not on a regular basis, no.
If someone is paying for an ad by credit card, that information is
shared with Pay Pal who have a very strict privacy policy as well. On occasion, we may have to share
some limited information with our web designer to fix a trouble spot on
the site. Also, if by law, we are required to disclose information for the
protection of our legal rights we will be obligated to do so. Otherwise, all your information is
kept confidential.
